School believes and recognises that volunteers play a critical role in the success and sustainability of greenroof@BedokViewSecSch. The Management Committee of the “greenroof”, also known as the G8, comprises of volunteers who use their own particular experience and expertise in a collective manner to govern the ‘greenroof’. The G8 have an agreed code of practice, defined role and areas of responsibility all properly spelt out in Volunteer Policy – a document that contains the full code for Bedok View Secondary Rooftop Farm Volunteers Only.
School also recognizes that the role of volunteers is to complement and not to replace the role of school’s responsibility of up-keeping and maintaining the ‘greenroof’. The school and G8 are therefore committed to ensuring that volunteers at all levels are provided with the information, training and support necessary to gain a valuable experience from volunteering their time. In addition, school is committed to building positive working relationships with volunteers. This relationship is to be founded on mutual respect and valuing the experience and skills which volunteers bring to the ‘greenroof’. Every effort will be made to provide opportunities that will enhance and develop those skills and create the potential for volunteers to take up further challenges and interests in their hobby.
